Details

We are delighted to welcome Jonathan Horgan and Ganesh Sistu from Valeo Vision Systems for our very first Machine Learning Galway event. Their talk will focus on the use of Deep Learning & Visual Perception in Autonomous Driving Systems.

-- SCHEDULE --
6:30 PM Introduction to ML Galway by Niall O’Hara
6:40 PM Talk: "Deep Learning, Visual Perception & Autonomous Driving "
7:30 PM Q&A
7:00 PM Closing

-- TALK--
The ability to extract important information from surroundings and make instant decisions is a fundamental skill autonomous vehicles require. Similar to the way humans use senses to perceive information from surrounding streams of data, modern autonomous vehicles use cameras, Lidars and other sensors to build an abstract map and employ decision policies to traverse through their environment. In this talk Jonathan Horgan and Ganesh Sistu will explain how visual perception helps a vehicle to understand the world around and make decisions. How a deep learning based visual perception ecosystem works and the challenges in building one. They also present deep learning research activities in Valeo Ireland and a large scale multi-camera dataset called woodscpe they are releasing to accelerate research in autonomous driving.
